On the hill with the salt pines

The last letters of Jacopo Ortis (Le ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis), is one of the first and most explosive works of Ugo Foscolo.

Premiere: November 5, 2021

The show, following the footsteps of the young Giacopo that lead him irreversibly to a redemptive suicide, wants to outline the image of an era and a society that is not far from ours. A society that puts reason over emotion, moderation over virtue and impotence over passion. A society that cries out mournfully for its alienated existence, for the resurrection of high ideals, for its lost humanity and fragmented magnanimity, but remains cruel, selfish and apathetic.

UGO FOSCOLO
The last letters of Giacopo Ortiz are one of the first and most explosive of Hugo Foscolo. This young work of his is characterized by dramatic and romantic elements, he personifies his experiences, his passions and his feelings by making Giacopolso in order to talk about the modern man.

Dionysios Solomos writes about Foscolo's Ortis: […]Read how he is captivated by the love for his country, the mercy for the poor, the respect for the great spirits and his parents, the awe of the sacred texts he reads even a moment before he died, the unbridled admiration for the beauties of creation, loves that Foscolo himself had in his soul and thus he was able to paint them vividly
