the group & its history

Eclipses Group Theater is a non-profit theater company founded in Thessaloniki in the spring of 2012, in collaboration and at the urging of partners-friends from New York. The first production was the "p-Roject" which was presented in New York and Montreal. A performance based on Aeschylus' Persians, directed by Ioanna Katsarou.

The aim of the group is to communicate, to exchange ideas and experiences with artists and spectators all over the world, to articulate discourse, on and off stage and across borders.

The group has been active in the city having cooperated with the 48th Dimitria, in the context of the grand opening ceremony, with the performance "Eat together", with the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, with the visual performance of Nikos Ortetzatos' original and premiered work, "The Beast". Also, with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, participating three times in the theater festival "Open Stage - Theatrical Voices of the City" with Reza de Wet's "Black Water", which was first performed and first translated in Greece, as well as with the new Greek play, also first performed, by Penelope Christopoulou , "Exit, please wait" but also "The pack...The secret of the wind" in an original text by Nikos Ortetzatos.

Eclipses Group Theater, alongside its theatrical activity, also operated a theater workshop from 2013 to 2018. The workshop emphasized stage performance, including movement and vocal exercises in the context of their association with "the stage body", as well as elements scenography and special constructions.
